Watch brand Rotary has donated 10 watches to help raise vital funds for the Royal Hospital Chelsea charity.
In association with Chelsea FC captain Gary Cahill, Rotary presented a donation of 10 Rotary watches to The Royal Hospital Chelsea in recognition of the charityβs 326 yearsβ offering accommodation, comradeship and the highest standards of care to ex-service men and women.
As a British designed brand with over 120 yearsβ heritage Rotary supports the British Army veteran charity by donating 10 watches from the latest collection (Ultra Slim, Cambridge & Windsor). These will be auctioned off to raise funds and a number of Chelsea Pensioners will accept the donation on behalf of the Royal Hospital.
The Royal Hospital Chelsea was commissioned by King Charles II in 1692 as a refuge for soldiers who had fought for their country and were βbroken by age or warβ. His vision was brought to life by architect Sir Christopher Wren. The Royal Hospital was the first institution in the UK to offer round the clock care for army veterans and as such, is one of Britainβs first social services. The Royal Hospital remains one of our most loved and valued working heritage sites and is numbered amongst Britainβs most important historic buildings.
Gary Cahill commented: βIt was an honour to meet the Chelsea Pensioners and to be shown their beautiful home. There was great banter all round and I enjoyed talking to the veterans about their Army experiences and of course, their love of football! I have deep respect for those who sacrifice so much for our country and Iβm glad that I, along with Rotary watches, can support these well-deserving veterans.β
