H Hogarth celebrates 100th anniversary

Founded in 1923, one of the founder members of the Company of Master Jewellers, H Hogarth in Kendal, Cumbria, is celebrating an incredible 100 years in business. To mark this milestone, the business is running a series of promotions, customer competitions and events to celebrate. It also has plans to give back to the local community, including donating 100 items to Kings Food Bank, giving away 100 free fitted watch batteries throughout the year and volunteering for local charities.

This family business has a vibrant history – the jewellers were brought in 1923 by Robert Cyril Hogarth, who called the store RC Hogarth. When he passed away aged 40 in 1942, the store then passed to his wife Hilda. When it was being repainted, the painter asked Hilda her name, having painted over RC Hogarth, and from then on the shop was called H Hogarth.

In 1955, the business was due to be sold due to Hilda’s poor health but her son Alan decided to take over the store. Alan carried out intensive training, he was active in the National Association of Goldsmiths, now known as the National Association of Jewellers, and he later became a founding member of the Company of Master Jewellers.

Today, the store is managed by husband and wife team Graeme and Helen, their daughter Laura and son Sam.

Be sure to connect with H Hogarth to stay up to date on its celebrations.
