Family-run Newry Jewellers unveils exciting expansion plans

The Multi-Award-Winning Jack Murphy Jewellers of Newry has announced that it will be growing the business, with plans in place to extend into the corner building next door to the already established Hill Street showroom, acquiring an additional 2,760 sq ft of retail and office space.

Work has already begun, with hopes to have the expansion completed in time for the Christmas rush. The extension will include a brand-new bridal jewellery area, extended jewellery showroom and luxurious coffee and champagne area. Plus, the creation of additional office space for dedicated Ecommerce, Marketing and Accounts teams.

Daughter of Jack and Business Partner, Gemma Murphy believes the move will reinforce Jack Murphy Jewellers continued commitment and strong 47-year relationship with the City of Newry.

“I’m excited to see where the next chapter of our Jack Murphy Jewellers journey takes us and look forward to bringing our family business to new levels, remaining a prominent and highly valued name on the High Street for generations to come.

As footfall has increased year on year, we will be adding to our two already existing luxury ‘Private Selection Rooms’ – allowing us more space to offer customers the intimate and personal experience they deserve, and we are known for.”

In the industry since 1957 and the heart of Newry from 1972, Jack Murphy Jewellers has a contingent of loyal customers in the City and further afield, due to the family-led nature of the business.

“Our loyal customers will remain at the forefront of our business as without them, and our incredible team, this exciting venture would not be possible. Thank you again for your continuous support over the years!

The extension will not only see us enhancing the overall customer experience in-store, but also online, with the creation of a brand-new ecommerce website. We understand having a strong brand presence online is vital as consumers are increasingly ‘window shopping’ on the internet before visiting the High Street.”

Father of Gemma and Owner of Jack Murphy Jewellers, Jack is delighted and proud to have managed to acquire the unit next door to the existing Hill Street showroom and see the business grow from strength to strength with his children, Gemma and Rory, by his side.

“I’m proud to witness the next generation take on the reigns of this project and see their enthusiasm and vision for the future come to life. It’s an exciting time for Jack Murphy Jewellers and I look forward to sharing our big plans with our wonderfully supportive customers soon!”

With the store’s impeccable customer service, honest advice and craftsmanship, abundance of exclusive pieces, and exceptional value; Jack Murphy Jewellers will continue to be a true jewel in the crown of Newry.
